Growing Gee-Force sets up in Renewables Hub as it pushes East

Bolting specialists Gee-Force Hydraulics is continuing its expansion on the east coast by taking tenancy in the hub at the offshore wind “centre of gravity.”

The company has become part of the Orbis Energy ‘family’ where such a diverse mix of developers and supply chain companies have offices. Its tenants describe working there as “one big networking event.”

Gee-Force managing director Graeme Cook said the Great Yarmouth-based company had responded to calls for an adaptable supply chain able to work with both the oil & gas industry and offshore wind.

“We have a proven track record in the oil & gas industry of reacting swiftly to get our tools on-site and working faster than our competitors. We’ve listened to calls about the supply chain diversifying into offshore wind and we are well-placed to serve that market, especially with our battery-operated wrenches.”

Orbis Energy, the four-storey renewables hub at Lowestoft, has been at the centre of ideas, innovation and collaboration since it opened 10 years ago, with the east coast offshore wind industry developing fast.

“One of the major benefits of tenancy at Orbis Energy is that it is recognised in the industry as being the hub of business activity. We are among clients, developers, operators and sub-contractors, all under the same roof, building businesses and delivering services to similar markets.”

Gee-Force’s sales engineer Matt Brooks, who joined the company in September after a long career working worldwide in the oil & gas industry using much of Gee-Force’s range on site – will be meeting clients and potential clients at Orbis Energy to discuss the full range of equipment for hire and purchase from the company’s Beacon Park base.

“The pipeline of new wind farms, extensions and operations and maintenance stretches well into the 2030s and we are on the doorstep with services the industry needs, especially as it moves forward into the O&M stage. Our Norbar range opens an opportunity in offshore wind, which is a natural target for us because it is literally building within a few miles of us. The Evo-Torque2 is also ideal for the maintenance of turbine towers. It offers incredible control in tough conditions and solutions for ease of operation and manoeuvrability in confined spaces. We are proud of the cost savings we deliver to our clients, responding immediately to their needs with tools reaching clients’ hands within two hours of an urgent order.”
